Access to the Levee

To obtain a key to the levee gate, please contact Chuck Koob at ckoob@me.com or ‭(917) 841-7720‬.  There is a $20 fee and you must agree to the following Rules of Access.

To access the levee, you must agree to the following Rules of Access:

    • The levee can be used only for recreational purposes including horseback riding, rafting, fishing, hiking, biking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and other similar activities. All other activities including overnight camping, hunting, use of firearms, fires and fireworks of any type are prohibited.

     

    • Snowmobiles and motorcycles are prohibited because these cannot be safely or properly
      operated at 5 MPH or less.

     

    • Motorized vehicles are allowed provided:

      – They access the levee from the locked gate at the north end of Solitude.
      – They do not park near the gate at the north end of Solitude.
      – They do not access the levee from the pathway off Avalanche Canyon Road.
      – They do not exceed 5 MPH.
      – They do not park on the levee.
      – They access the levee to transport people and recreational equipment to and
      from the levee.
      – They access the levee between the hours of 8 AM or sunrise, whichever is later,
          and 7 PM or sunset, whichever is earlier.

     

    • You can access the levee via foot, bike, horseback, or cross-country skis from either the
      pathway off Avalanche Canyon Road or via the north entrance pedestrian gate opening.

     

    • There are two parking areas near the pathway off Avalanche Canyon Road for use by Solitude homeowners only.
    • Access to the levee is prohibited by anyone entering upon or crossing land owned by river front property owners without the direct permission of the property owner.

     Access to the levee is prohibited for anyone that is not a Solitude property owner or member of a property owner’s family or guest.  Families who have a long-term lease (short-term rentals are prohibited in Solitude) with a property owner and who as renters are designees via a lease agreement can access the levee provided, they agree to the Rules of Access.

  •  Solitude owners accessing the levee should be respectful of the riverfront owners.

    • Riverfront owners should be respectful of the right of Solitude owners to access the levee from the north and south access points.
